Market crash or no, the Restaurant & Catering 2008 Awards were handed out in September, with big winners being Sean Moran of Sean’s Panaroma taking home Restaurateur of the Year (actually, he didn’t take it home as he was in London at the time); and caterer Belinda Franks and John Hemmes being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Restaurant of the Year went to Quay, and Caterer of the Year to the Australian Jockey Club. And the food on the night at the Sydney Convention Centre by executive chef Detlef Haupt was terrific — you try feeding 800 restaurateurs
