Another farmers' market for Sydney
A few weeks ago, Hawkesbury Harvest lifted the lid on their Friday market at Cook & Phillip Park (in front of St Mary’s Cathedral). Now, the other end of town is getting one on Friday and Saturday. The Rocks Farmers’ Market, run by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, is a serious market that complies with the Australian Farmers’ Market Association definition: “A Farmers’ Market is a predominantly fresh food market that operates regularly within a community, at a focal public location that provides a suitable environment for farmers and food producers to sell farm-origin and associated value-added processed food products directly to customers.” To which we add “hear, hear”. An impressive array of farmers and producers will turn up, including Saltbush Lamb, Jannei Goats Dairy, Littleview Orchard and Yuri’s Sustainable Produce.
