Cheap Eats
It probably began back in January when Civic Dining (Level 1 Civic Hotel Cnr Pitt & Goulburn Streets 8080 7040) reopened after the break with Peter Conistis only doing Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and his Mum Eleni’s $15 dishes moving upstairs from the bar to the restaurant the other nights. Now we’re being offered bargains all over. Here’s a few:
- Carpaccio (39 Norton Street, Leichhardt Ph 9550 9365) is offering a glass of beer or wine and all the pizza you can handle for $20 — first in best dressed Tuesday to Thursday nights.
- At Pyrama (56 Harris Street, Pyrmont Ph 9692 8844) you can reserve for the Credit Crunch Special at lunch or dinner during April: two courses + a glass of Pizzini wine, $45. A good way to try this new joint.
- Across the water in Manly, Garfish (39 East Esplanade, Ph 9977 0707) is offering a $30 lunch that includes a choice of mains served with a glass of wine.
No doubt we’ll have more of these to report as the year rolls on.
