Farm Gate Trail

January 2009

If you are staying in town this holiday period, here’s another idea. I went to the launch of the Hawkesbury Harvest Farm Gate Trail map in early December at Vicary’s Winery in Luddenham. Over glasses of Vicary’s terrifically crisp 2007 unwooded Chardonnay, we toasted the launch of this latest version of a remarkable resource for Sydneysiders. It records 58 places and 44 farms stretching from Brooklyn in the north to Bargo in the southwest, with four maps offering four trails for wandering or gathering food straight from the farm. If you haven’t been out and seen Sydney’s beautiful farmlands, grab a copy of this map by going to, click on contact us and fill out the form to get your free copy. When you do go, take your copy of Sydney Eats and check out the Blue Mountains section for some great places to eat in the region, Lochiel house at Bilpin being one offering local produce. The Farm Gate Trail also features good local cafes and restaurants.
