Lanes alive
Our sainted Lord Mayor Clover Moore wants to enliven the city’s laneways and to that end is encouraging bars and eateries to open in them. Well, the delightfully named Temperance Lane (between 389 and 391 George Street, Ph 9947 1047) now has Grasshopper, with fine chef Richard Duff at the stoves. We tasted Richard’s food at the lamentably short-lived Kirketon and loved it then. We’ve only done a tour of Grasshopper so far but will drop in again by next column. There’s lots of recycled wood spread over two floors with the restaurant part upstairs and a bar downstairs. Duff is going to keep the food simple and the wine accessible.
