In the February column we announced this place was opening in the Strand Arcade as part of Nino Zoccala's Pendolino restaurant/café complex (Shop 100 Level Two 9231 6117). But now we've seen it we can tell you it's quite extraordinary - the best olive oil shop I've ever seen. A wall of the choicest oils from around the world, especially Italy and including Australia, the Australian ones directly sourced mostly from small makers who only usually sell on-site, and a selection of bulk buy oils: you buy a 500ml or 1-litre bottle and fill it up. Anyone who loves olive oil has to see this remarkable new resource. We have yet to eat at Pendolino but have heard very good things about it. Zoccala has done a meticulous job of setting up his operation. We'll report on the restaurant soon.
