Reichl lovers alert
I’m talking to those among you who have read and loved New York food writer Ruth Reichl’s Garlic and Sapphires or Comfort Me With Apples. You’re in for a treat, because she has a new book, Not Becoming my Mother, which I for one can’t wait to get my mitts on. Readers of Garlic & Sapphires will recall that one of Ruthie’s tricks, when she wanted to review a restaurant anonymously, was to disguise herself as her mother. We can think of several un-PC things to say about women and their mothers, but we’ll refrain.
