Restaurant & Catering Awards
These are the awards given to restaurants and restaurateurs by the restaurant association and, sometimes, when you’re sitting through them, you think that maybe they’re giving one to every restaurant and café in Sydney. But there are some deserving winners this year. First, the Lifetime Achiever award went to brother and sister team Raymond and Jennice Kersh of Edna’s Table and native produce fame, and good on ’em. Robert Molines, the king of the Hunter, was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He’s just opened a new place, Bistro Molines (749 Mount View Road Mount View, Ph 4990 9553), which was the subject of a fine review (his last) by Simon Thomsen a couple of weeks ago. And Restaurant of the Year? Drum roll, please, Maestro … Marque Restaurant (355 Crown Street Surry Hills, Ph 9332 2225). Congratulations to Mark Best & team.
