The Central Western shuffle
There have been a few moves out Orange way, as the team at The School House Restaurant at the Mayfield Winery (chef Shaun Arantz, Willa McDuie et al) have moved out and set up shop at Racine (42 Lake Canobolas Rd, Ph 6365 3275, www.racinerestaurant.com.au), another restaurant that had been closed for some months, at La Colline Wines. Winery owners Aline and Philippe Prudhomme gave the team “free rein to create their dream country restaurant”.
Meanwhile, back at The School House, well-established Lolli Redini (48 Sale St, Orange, Ph 6361 7748) chef Simonne Hawke and her partner Leah Morphett have taken over The School House (Mayfield Vineyard Icely Rd, Orange, Ph 6362 9293) and introduced a chef’s table approach they call ‘Trust the Chef’ — four courses including soup, starters, main plus trimmings and dessert to go with the Mayfield wines.
