The TOYS are all boys
It’s a great idea and it’ll be a great meal — and it was hatched up over a dinner between three powerful women in the food media — so how come all the Taste of Young Sydney (TOYS) chefs are boys (see below)? That aside, Morgan McClone (Flinders Inn) Dan Hong (Lotus), Mitch Orr (2009 GFG Young Chef of the Year), Darren Robertson (Tetsuya’s) and pastry chef du jour Adriano Zumbo decided they were sick of playing second fiddle to the Perrys and Wakudas of the world — they wanna be players. So they’re holding a dinner at Flinders Inn (1/160 Flinders Street Paddington, Ph 9331 0208) on Sunday March 7. A five-course degustation including matched wines and canapés costs $170 a head. The future of Sydney food is in their hairy hands.
