There are now eight Doytaos scattered around inner Sydney (see the website for the list) but someone somewhere is keeping an eye on quality at all of them. They consistently offer above-average Thai in a town teeming with tired Thai. And as well as the standard offerings you’ll find dishes such as volcanic chicken $19.90, a whole boneless chicken marinated in a their own special sauce covered with honey and flamed with brandy. More standard but still good are the red and green duck curries 14.90. Also better than the average is their prawn tom yum $9.50. All dishes are prepared when ordered and flavours are generally more interesting and authentic than the sugar-soaked norm.
