BIJOLIAS
Cuisine: Indian
There’s much more to Indian food than rogan josh and vindaloo, and Ajay and Neeta Mathur of Bijolias are happy to show you. The couple’s innovative approach is evident in entrees such as chicken khurchan $12.50, comprising finely shredded tandoori chicken tossed with coriander and chaat masala, and crispy coated khasta prawns served with a salad and dipping sauce $13.50. You’ll find most of India’s greatest hits in the curries on the mains menu, along with not so famous (but should be) bhuna chilli lamb $17.90 and kadai macchi, fish fillets cooked in a tantalising blend of tomatoes, ginger, fenugreek and coriander $20.90. Vegetarians are well looked after; we were sold on the pan-fried sliced eggplant with tamarind and broiled coconut $15.50. Finish on a sweet note with mango and rose kulfi $6.50.
