Sydney Eats Review
New chef Robert Hodgson walked in last year and this very French restaurant in oh so inner westie Rozelle hasn’t skipped a beat. Comfortable armchairs for outdoor dining, dark wooden floors to match the elegant bistro furniture and restrained use of Baroque patterned wallpaper make this a very attractive place to eat. But the food is the drawcard. You’d expect a big breakfast at a place named after a film of glorious (but fatal) excess, but La Bouffe $15 is a real biggie complete with eggs, mushrooms, toulouse sausage and more. All day long you can order braised ham hock with puy lentils and poached eggs $14, at lunch perhaps sauteed calf’s liver, pommes puree and balsamic jus $22. At dinner entrees are $18.50, mains $29 — and worth it.
