Bene per Buon Appetitio! We have always driven past 42 Bannerman but never gotten round to trying it. Luckily last Thursday we did and were treated to a night of truly high class quality dining. We let the staff feed us their suggestions for the full three courses and were really happy. The night started with the antipasto plate – we were pleasantly surprised that the foccacia was as good as the one we had freshly baked in Rome! This was followed by the home made gnocchi, a beautiful concoction of Thyme and tomato that just melted in our mouths. Our final main was the Rabbit – done agrodolce (apparently meaning Sweet and Sour Sicilian style – with tomato, white wine balsamic and of all things, chocolate!), a dish we would have never picked! However it was simply stunning! We couldn’t fit in dessert but ended the night with delirious satisfaction. Knowing that the menu changes every week, We will be sure to return!more »
We love this place so much we decided to hold our daughters wedding there! The food and the service can only be described as exceptional. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect.
A big warm thank you to Sam, his family and staff for a wonderful evening.more »
Together with a group of friends we decided to judge the Trattoria for ourselves. Our verdict, a dining experience never experienced before in any so called Italian restaurant.. One has to be a real foodie to appreciate quality, labor intense food.
From the moment one walks in the staff smiling, the music, atmosphere and the aroma from the kitchen, makes one feel truly welcomed.
What a surprise! we were shown to our table and we could see the food being prepared and cooked, before your eyes, now that's fresh!!!
We decided to go with the antipasto, shared our pasta and had our own main and a dessert selection and a great cup of coffee. The wine list is excellent and reasonable priced.
My friends and I discussed and all agreed, the challenge of the owners deciding to introduce the real taste of Italy would flack criticisms and salute them for persevering. It’s a great, having a restaurant ops….Trattoria and not having to wait to go to Italy. Really refreshing!!more »

Sydney Eats Review
It’s Tuscany via Castle Hill in this Italianate villa, complete with exposed beams, open fireplace and a wide terrace overlooking the bush. Choose from the ever-changing menu or let the charming and knowledgeable staff decide for you. Antipasto $10 includes locally made salami, housemade focaccia and sauteed zucchini with mint. Handmade fettuccine $24 arrives Sicilian style with grilled sardines and pinenuts in an aromatic tomato broth. Beef rib-eye with pumpkin and amaretto reduction $28 has us mopping the plate, while the sublime simplicity of kingfish with grilled radicchio and fennel $23, followed by scoops of fragrant mint and apple cinnamon gelato $8 will have you pining for Naples. It’s an easy drive from the CBD for a splendid Sunday lunch; if you lived locally you’d be here every week.
